Standing Ovation Music Lessons Newsletter HAPPY MARCH 2014 Its still NYSSMA time and counting the days…….. *Our NYSSMA recital is April 27th. Please support our four camera video shoot and reserve your copy Learning from our last recital …..There are changes and revisions to be made. Chapters will be inserted so you can get to your favorite parts quicklyI will talk less JNo camera man in picture (this is a new angle for the crew and there is always a learning curve) If you have any suggestions please please please contact me right away!!!! My daughter is getting older and lately I have been viewing pictures and footage. I am so relieved and happy with the choices I have made being the “picture lady.” I have so much documentation of her life and so much joy it brings me to recall all the memories.Even the pictures and footage from lessons, recitals and students. ………As I am finally launching the Standing Ovation Website……viewing all the pictures reminds me how much time I have experienced in the music world! WOW!!!

So these DVDs will be your treasures…this I can promise you.I am glad for all the times I had a video camera in one hand and a camera in the other and a smart phone on my lap, switching back and forth. Now I have J&L productions for video. Reserve your copy today!!! Please invite all your family and friends to our recital1You have all practiced so hard. Let people come to enjoy your musical presentation. You would be surprised how many people would truly enjoy the performance…….So invite them!!!!!! NYSSMA- all I have to say is follow the documented instructions in your notebooks and you will have a wonderful experience. We are having our honors recital on June 4th at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Huntington. **Wednesday June Fourth at 6:30 pm.Please join us for this very special performance. (flyer coming) **So finally the website will be up and running shortly. If you have great pictures or footage, please send it to me. I can scan real pictures too! By April 1st Standing Ovation Website will be launched for the most part Some tabs may still be under construction.I expect this work in progress to grow and grow and as a result; Standing Ovation will become a more unified community. So many times I make a reference to certain to musical performances or songs This will be a storage place you will be able to access the reference

I AM TRULY ENJOYING THE PROCESS!

 

For those participating in The NYSSMA festival; all notes are learned, final details of dynamics; tone and tempo should be just about done. Your practicing should consist of scales and warm up pieces (finger power or Hanon), Your performance pieces, and sight-reading, which are specific assignments I have suggested (dittos and bookwork). I encourage students to keep up with their written assignments…..theory, note speller etc. Some people do and some people don’t. These books reinforce the terms and information you need to read music and become a knowledgeable musician (and help of course with that sight reading we all seem to hide from). Sight-reading is not something you work on eight weeks before NYSSMA and put it away after the festival until next year. We spend extra time in our lesson (more with beginner students) to get the drill of the NYSSMA experience down. After NYSSMA, I continue with bookwork assignments and many assignments that will strengthen your reading skills. It is up to the student to keep up with these assignments. If we spend five to ten minutes a week in your lesson correcting these pieces you have practiced; this will strengthen your knowledge and ability for next season, I promise! So sight read now do your best this month J and after the festival, complete all assignments in your notebook. Any Parent or student who would like to write a letter of their experience at our music studio please do so we can post new letters on the website Thank You Thank You and Thank You!!!!! Oh I would like to be able to move the piano back on the stage for recitals. I need 4 strong men before and after to commit to that process. Volunteers please …………

Power is energy over time Take the time…. work at it and you can do anything …………And that is all I feel right now about this web site……… I gathered so much content for this web site over the last few months and have uncovered volumes more of wonderful footage …..pictures…..content I want to share it all because it is all my wonderful students!!!! So if you don’t find yourself up there posted just yet give me time Each recital or picture file becomes a project within itself to sift through and render place. I have been having the time of my life! It is so much fun! Check back often for new postings! NYSSMA is almost here time to breathe deep, focus And really listen to your playing.

Re read the March newsletter and Follow every word in your note-book! Please reserve your special DVD of our NYSSMA recital! If you have any great footage or pictures to post on our site hand it over ASAP!

     WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
Everybody here at Standing Ovation Music Lessons has spent their summer
Attending lessons,  practicing, preparing for our Disney Festival equals =AMAZING TALENTED ARTISTS in the making!!!!!  If you could only hear all the music coming out of the studio we have already put together many duets and small ensembles! All I can say is WOW!!! The practicing and prep is OUTSTANDING!!!!

PLEASE go to www.standingovationmusiclessons.com read through our studio policy to freshen up on the rules and vision of the studio. If you have any questions or concerns don’t hesitate to contact me.

A 10$ annual studio fee will be included in your September tuition statement. This fee helps cover costs of all the wonderful copies of music received from our vast and always growing library.

My personal teaching schedule is quite full. I will, as always STRICTLY   enforce the cancellation policy! (Please refer to Website) Many of my students are developing successful careers and their schedules are crazy.
I must know my availability to be here to meet the needs of all the artists who study with me. Please stick to your appointment or let me know well in advance to switch you appointment. There are only 4 emergency cancellations per school year. Makeups will be offered when there is an opening in my schedule. If you miss a make up lesson it will be forfeited NOT scheduled again.

To experience any kind of significant growth, gain musical knowledge and develop true musical technique (all the reasons why you have signed your child up for music lessons) the student must attend a weekly lesson and two lessons in one week is not uncommon with a makeup lesson. In each lesson the student works through repertoire is reminded of musical terms they have learned and need constant reinforcement as well as learning new terms; so much is slated for accomplishment in those 4 monthly lessons! My most consistent students are the most successful students who learn the most music, understand the most terminology and have built the strongest technical foundation These are the little people that one day can say, along with all their wonderful accomplishments  “I am a musician” not I took lessons………….. I offer every student the knowledge to facilitate this! As  they grow into this knowledge and strength it becomes something they love to do !!!!!  LEARNING MUSIC IS FUN!!!!!!

DISNEY CELEBRATION RECITAL!……NOVEMBER 9th  2pm & 4pm

CHRISTMAS RECITAL………………..DECEMBER 14th  2pm

PLEASE PLAN ON STAYING FOR THE ENTIRE PEFORMANCE TO SUPPORT EVERY MUSICIAN WHO HAS WORKED SO HARD TO PRESENT!!!!!  These children who waited for their turn and enjoyed all the performers before them want all of the audience to be there to clap and encourage them as they did for their peers.

Our group rehearsal turnout for the Disney Celebration Recital is HANDS DOWN   SUPERCALIFRAGELISTICEXPIALIDOUS !!! The room is filled with talent, manners, true love of music and teamwork! They are Practically perfect in every way!  Ty.

Please mark your calendars carefully for the rehearsal date and times will vary. There might be slight time adjustments to get the most accomplished in every single rehearsal!!!

Over the summer our Justin Bieber girls rehearsed for a video shoot!! We added 5 dancers thanks to Lori Torre a very special mom of a former student. Lori brought all the dancers together coordinated rehearsals at her house and drove them all here for rehearsals!!!! On August 25th we all went to Cedar Beach and shot our version of a VH1 music video. The cast had so much fun and enjoyed their accomplishment. It was so special to see them all in action giving it their best efforts while the cameras were rolling. The next step will take place at the production studio. With the Editor, I will create the finished video from the 450,000 feet of film shot on that day. This will be my first experience creating product in the form of editing…..pretty coooool!

Our New York City class trip will be to see Aladdin. Come one come all reserve your tickets for December 3rd   group train  & group show ticket make the day fun and affordable! In the next two weeks I will be putting the tickets on reserve at the box office ….so……. make your decisions and let me know ASAP.
